Golden

Fame and fortune made Golden Colorado's Territorial capital in 1862. Come see artifacts of the American West, or learn quilting at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, check out the Pioneering Museum, the Foothills Art Center, Historic Walk, and Colorado Railroad Museum. Golden has it all!
For those beer drinkers out there, check out the largest single-site brewery in the world, Coors Brewery. Tours are available with 3 free beers at the end to quench your thirst with the freshest beer available.
Golden was established in 1859 and many buildings from that time period
still remain in the territories old capital. The Astor House Museum was
built in 1867 next to the old capital building. Seth Lake, a man who had
become wealthy off of the gold rush, built the hotel out of 18 inch thick
walls for senators to enjoy. Seth raved to having clean rooms
“free of pests associated with wood structures.” Unfortunately for Seth,
the capital was moved to Denver the following year.
Other impressive sites in and around Golden include; Lookout Mountain (hosts
the “M” for School of Mines), Red Rocks Amphitheater, School of Mines Geology
Museum, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, The National Center for
Earthquakes and Heritage Square (alpine slides, bungee jump, go karts.)
Golden is a great place to enjoy a day in a beautiful place that links both
past and present.
