The Denver Nuggets have been an interesting pro sports team for many
years in Denver. Although they haven't ever won the NBA finals, many
celebrate when they make the playoffs. Last time that happened they
surprised the Seattle Supersonics in the opening round and shocked
the world.
Since then, the Nuggets hit rock bottom when they had the worst record
in the league (by a lot) in 1997-1998. The Nuggets were at an all
time low in spirit, winning and attendance. Since 1998 a lot has changed
in the Nuggets organization. Dan Issel a former player, is now the
head coach and acting General Manager of the team.
Issel has brought in many players with one criteria, they have to
love to win. The Nuggets showed a remarkable turnaround in the 1999-2000
and look to be close to being a playoff caliber team in the future.
The Nuggets had some impressive wins in '99-'00 including over the
eventual NBA champions the L.A. Lakers. On the other hand, the Nuggets
seemed to have a lot of trouble with lesser teams.
The Nuggets now play at Pepsi Center after their long stint at Mc
Nichols Arena. The Pepsi Center is a beautiful place to see a basketball
game. The 'straight-up' type of structure allows fans, even up near
the top, to be closer to the actual floor. The Nuggets are starting
to draw more fans and the Pepsi Center certainly hasn't hurt that.
