Corporate Facts
Tax advantages and city and regional incentives make Colorado Springs
one of the best areas to consider establishing your business. The high
quality labor force, including many ex-military personnel, low levels
of unionization and competitive wages attribute to the availability of
quality skilled applicants. One of the most sophisticated telecommunications
networks and quality utility service at rates far below national averages
for electricity, natural gas, water and wastewater contribute a favorable
business environment.
Several types of financial incentives may be available to firms expanding
in or relocating to the Pikes Peak region.
Training Funding
Customized training may be provided for new employees of eligible companies
through funding from the State of Colorado's "ColoradoFIRST" program.
Training may be provided for permanent, non-seasonal jobs being created
by non-retail companies newly locating to, or undertaking a significant
expansion in, Colorado. All direct training program costs are eligible
for reimbursement. Pikes Peak Community College is the lead local agency
for delivery of training funded under ColoradoFIRST.
Benefits to Eligible Businesses
Most direct training costs are eligible for reimbursement. The employer
chooses the trainees, and Colorado First imposes no obligation on companies
to hire training program graduates. The company determines the goals and
objectives of the training. The company controls training content and
delivery. Paperwork and red tape are minimal. Pikes Peak Community College,
the lead local agency for delivery of the Colorado First program in the
Colorado Springs area, administers and monitors the grant. Assistance
with employee screening and assessment may be included. Confidentiality
is maintained.
This is just a sampling of the financial incentives available. For more
information please consult the Colorado Springs chapter of the Better
Business Bureau.
